The Tourism Authority of Kiribati (TAK) conducted Tourism Awareness Program to the Youth and Sunday School of the Kiribati Uniting Church (KUC) in Ronton Kiritimati, on 19 May 2021.
TAK was invited to conduct an awareness on the importance of tourism and its economic, social-cultural and environment benefits to Kiribati to these groups. Part of the awareness was enriching the youth with responsibilities that will support safeguarding and protecting resources for sustainable tourism development.
KUC Youth and Sunday School are active in environment conservation for their community, and always organize community program once every quarter. This year, the group has recognised the importance of tourism on Kiritimati and have extended their support to the conservation and environmental preservation initiatives of TAK and the Environment Conservation Division (ECD).
TAK and ECD welcomes participation from groups like the YCL Ronton and KUC Church as it supports the Authority’s tourism reset program. Such initiatives will help Kiritimati prepare for a safe and rewarding tourism restart when international borders reopen.
